Corporate InformationBrief History In 1978 Ashton ITC developed InterAct for Apple (and later IBM) computers as a software tool designed to produce interactive multimedia presentations and computer-based-training. InterAct was one of the first programs to give content authors with no programming knowledge the ability to develop interactive multimedia presentations on PCs that included text, graphics, animation, sound and video segments. This tool enjoyed international sales success and was also used internally by our staff for custom client projects. In the early eighties Digital Equipment Corporation and Monroe Systems for Business contracted with the company to produce versions of InterAct that ran on their proprietary PC operating systems as well. Our company has a rich history of conducting business on-line. In 1979 we developed dial-up communications software for internal use. It allowed our employees to communicate from field offices via e-mail and more importantly served to deliver up to the minute news and product information to our staff and customers. There was even an ability to generate on-line proposals and orders. This was a very early example of a Corporate Intranet and although the software was developed for internal use, many of our clients requested custom versions for their business.
